Audio Workspace Overview

In traditional film post-production, the video editor locks the picture, exports an AAF or OMF file, and sends it to a dedicated sound designer using Pro Tools or Logic Pro. If the director decides to change a single cut, the entire export process must be repeated.

Oraphim eliminates this friction by integrating a world-class Digital Audio Workstation (DAW) directly into the engine: the Audio Workspace.

Sub-Sample Precision

While the Edit Workspace timeline is locked to the frame rate of your video (e.g., 24 frames per second), audio operates at a much higher resolution (e.g., 48,000 samples per second).

When you enter the Audio Workspace, the timeline ceases to be bound by video frames. You can zoom in to the microscopic level of the waveform and make sub-frame edits—cutting a piece of audio between two video frames to remove a tiny mouth click or perfectly align a drum hit.

The Core Philosophy

Professional audio mixing is about clarity, space, and loudness. The typical workflow proceeds as follows:

  1. Tracks and Buses: Organizing hundreds of sound clips into logical channels.
  2. The Mixer: Balancing the volume levels of the tracks.
  3. EQ: Removing bad frequencies (like rumble or hiss) and enhancing good ones.
  4. Dynamics: Controlling the volume range using Compressors and Limiters.
  5. Loudness: Ensuring the final export meets strict broadcasting standards (e.g., Netflix or YouTube LUFS requirements).

By mastering the Audio Workspace, you can deliver a cinema-quality soundtrack without ever leaving Oraphim.
