Project Settings

Project Settings dictate the fundamental architecture of the specific project you currently have open. Changing these settings does not affect other projects in your database.
To access these settings, click the gear icon in the bottom right corner of the screen, or navigate to File > Project Settings (Shift + 9).
1. Master Settings
The Master Settings tab contains the most critical decisions you make before you start editing.
- Timeline Resolution: Defaults to 1920x1080 HD. You can change this to 3840x2160 Ultra HD (4K) or custom resolutions like 1080x1920 (for TikTok).
- Timeline Frame Rate: The speed at which your video plays (e.g., 24fps for film, 30fps for TV, 60fps for gaming).
- CRITICAL WARNING: Once you drop a video clip onto your timeline, the frame rate is permanently locked. You cannot change a 24fps timeline to a 60fps timeline halfway through an edit. You must set this correctly before you begin editing.
- Video Monitoring: If you have a dedicated video I/O card (like a Blackmagic DeckLink) feeding a reference monitor, you set the output resolution and frame rate here.
2. Image Scaling
When you put a 4K video clip onto a 1080p timeline, Oraphim has to shrink it. This tab dictates the mathematical algorithm used for that scaling.
- Mismatched Resolution Files: Leave this on "Scale entire image to fit". This ensures 4K footage shrinks perfectly into a 1080p box without cropping the sides.
- Resize Filter: The algorithm used. "Bilinear" is fast but slightly soft. "Lanczos" or "Sharper" takes more processing power but yields crisper results when downscaling 8K footage.
3. Color Management
As detailed in the Color chapter, this tab controls the Oraphim Color Managed (OCM) engine.
- This is where you set the Color Science, the Timeline Color Space, and the Output Color Space (Rec.709 vs. HDR).
4. Optimized Media and Render Cache
If your computer is too slow to play back heavy 8K raw files or complex node graphs, you can instruct Oraphim to generate proxy files in the background.
- Proxy Media Resolution: Set to "Half" or "Quarter".
- Proxy Media Format: Set to a lightweight codec (e.g., ProRes Proxy on Mac, or DNxHR LB on Windows).
- Render Cache Format: The format Oraphim uses when it temporarily renders a heavy VFX shot so it plays smoothly. Set this to a high-quality format (like ProRes 422 HQ) so the cached file doesn't look pixelated.
