Archiving Your Project

When a project is completely finished, approved by the client, and uploaded to the internet, you should not leave it sitting active in your Project Manager. Over time, active databases become bloated and slow down. You must Archive the project.

Archiving is not just exporting a final video; it is packaging the entire editing ecosystem so you can open it perfectly 5 years later, even if you move to a different computer.

The Problem with Standard Saves

If you just copy the raw camera files to an external hard drive, and then copy a tiny project metadata file next to them, you are risking data loss. If a single file path changes (e.g., the drive mounts as D:\ instead of E:\), Oraphim will open the project showing massive red "Media Offline" screens.

Exporting a Project Archive (.DRA)

Oraphim features a dedicated archiving tool that bundles the database metadata, the raw media, the audio, and the proxy files into a single, self-contained directory called a .DRA (Oraphim Resolve Archive).

1. Open the Project Manager (the home screen where you select projects).
2. Right-click the project you want to archive.
3. Select Export Project Archive...
4. A file browser will appear. Navigate to your external archive hard drive and click Save.
5. An options dialog will appear.
   • Media Files: ALWAYS check this. Oraphim will physically copy every single video and audio file used in the project into the .dra folder.
   • Render Cache / Proxy Media: Uncheck these unless you absolutely need them. They take up massive amounts of storage space, and if you reopen the project 5 years later, Oraphim can just regenerate them anyway.
6. Click Ok.

Oraphim will spend several minutes copying gigabytes of data into a neat, self-contained folder structure.

Restoring an Archive

Five years later, the client emails you asking for a slight tweak to the video.

1. Plug in your archive hard drive.
2. Open Oraphim's Project Manager.
3. Right-click the empty gray space and select Restore Project Archive...
4. Navigate to the .dra folder and select it.

Oraphim will instantly reconstruct the project in your active database. Because all the media is contained inside the .dra folder, the relative file paths are perfectly intact. You will have zero "Media Offline" errors, and the timeline will open exactly as you left it 5 years ago, ready to be exported again.
